The inspiration for Wim Spa’s Stone Plate came from a personal experience of our founder, Steven, during his travels. In October 2023, Steven found himself in the serene beaches of South France, where he embraced his daily routine of ice bathing in the sea. The stony beaches provided an unexpected luxury—after each ice bath, his feet were instantly dry, thanks to the natural absorption of the stones. This sensation sparked an idea.
Steven realized that this same practicality and comfort should be brought to bathrooms worldwide. He envisioned a bath mat that mimicked the absorbent, natural quality of those stones—a mat that not only dried quickly but also elevated the bathing experience to a whole new level. And so, the concept of the Stone Plate was born.
To bring this vision to life, Steven sought out a material called Diatomite, a natural substance formed from fossilized algae.
